The sun was just rising when the skyscraper fell to the ground. Cars were instantly crushed, and those walking past screamed, thinking it was the work of terrorists. Moments later, five ambulances, nine fire trucks, and seventeen police cars pulled up next to the wreckage. The entire area was blazing with flames, and the firemen immediately got to work dousing it out.
Soon the fire was out, and the search began for survivors. Some people, bruised and bleeding, were pulled out of the wreckage, but not many. Hours after the search began, only nine people were sent to the nearest hospital; the rest, if any, of those alive, were still lost. One of the survivors was one of the scientists in Adam’s entourage, she sobbed as she was led to the ambulance.
Deep below the wreckage, Timothy and Adam were nowhere to be found, along with Dr. Doctor and Glenda. Miles away, a black van sped down the highway, blaring very bad techno music. Glenda sat in the back, smiling broadly at the two captives as Dr. Doctor drove towards his lab. Bob, the Guy Who is Cool and the other robot were shut down in the back.
“What are you doing with us?” One asked patiently.
Glenda laughed and replied, “Oh, do you expect us to tell you? I thought you were smarter than that, little Adam!”
Adam glared at her, as Timothy spoke up. “You’re bringing us back to your lab, aren’t you? I understand why you want me, but why bring Adam too?”
“So you didn’t want us to save him from being crushed by the building collapsing?" Glenda asked him.
Adam’s eyes widened and he screamed, “You did what to my beloved building? How dare you! Do you know who I am?”
“Yes, yes, I know all about you, little boy. Although most people don’t. They think your entire corporation is run by your fictitious father, and you’re just a spoiled little boy.”
“Well, that was the plan.” Adam said, then struggled to stand.
“Good luck getting up, in case you haven’t noticed, I tied you both up. Now if you don’t mind, I’m going to take a nap.” Glenda laughed, and laid down. She was soon asleep.
Adam and Timothy exchanged glances with each other, then directed their attention on Dr. Doctor, who was singing along to the music. In order to be able to get out of the van, they couldn’t have him be able to notice them escape. Timothy hatched a plan.
“Hey Doc!”
“Dance! Dance to the bea-what?”
“Loving the music!”
“Oh really? Gosh, thanks! It’s just a little something I whipped up with my friends on the computer.”
“Really? Cool! Do you think you could turn it up a bit?
“Sure, but do you think it will wake Glenda?”
Timothy glanced at Glenda, who was out cold sleeping on the floor.
“Naw, she’ll sleep though it.”
“Alrighty then! Behold the majesty of my totally hip band, Da Nerdzz!” he cranked the volume up all the way, then began dancing while he steered around a tractor.
“Ok, he’s distracted!” Timothy said quietly to Adam.
“Are you sure he won’t notice us leaving?”
“I don’t think so.” Timothy answered as Dr. Doctor clenched his eyes closed and wailed out the chorus to the song.
“Ok... so how are we going to get out?”
“Like this.” Timothy focused as hard as he could on expanding large enough to break the ropes that held him down. They snapped, and after shrinking back to normal size, he stood and began to work on Adam’s. Soon Adam was also free, and they opened the door. After making sure Dr. Doctor was occupied, they jumped out.
It was mid-morning outside, and the grass was still slightly wet with dew. Adam promptly stood and whipped the grass off his pants. Timothy sat on the ground and looked around quietly.
“So, now what do you think we should do?” Adam asked him.
“I don’t know... maybe we should head to the nearest town.”
“Yea. And... about how I acted before... I’m sorry. I got so excited about having such a cool new robot to study that I forgot that it- he was still pretty much human.”
“It’s fine. Just... don’t stick anymore wires in my neck. Or anywhere else for that matter. Deal?”
“Deal.”
They shook hands, and began to walk the opposite direction of the way Dr. Doctor drove.
