“Ok, now how am I supposed to go back to normal?” Timothy grumbled and sat down on a bench set up in the corner. He had reached the nicer part of the building, the carpet was white and the walls had pictures of robots on them. A huge metal staircase in the corner led up to the second level. A few interns gathered by the counter set up in the middle of the room, gossiping over cups of coffee. They glanced over at him every now and then, then quickly turned away, laughing nervously. Timothy smiled weakly at them and waved, which made them giggle louder and walk away, clutching their coffee tightly against their clipboards. “Well, I guess panicking made me transform in the first place, so maybe I just have to again. But if I go back to normal in front of all of these people they’ll grab me and throw me back in that room. So for now I should just stay like this.” He mused quietly, shuddering at the thought of being somebody else, especially a person like Adam. He remained on the bench for a moment, then moved to the middle of the room next to the coffee counter, where another group of interns gathered. He grabbed a doughnut and shoved the entire thing in his mouth. The interns watched him cautiously as jelly oozed out of his mouth and plopped on the floor. “Hi,” Timothy mumbled as he scanned the counter for any drink that wasn’t coffee. He found nothing, except for a drinking fountain across the room. He shuffled over and took a long drink. When he finished he went back to the bench and leaned over, holding his head in his hands. His long blonde hair hung over his eyes as he wondered what to do. “Wait a minute...” He murmured, and grabbed his bangs and examined the tips, which were at eye level. “They’re blonde ” He exclaimed, attracting the attention of the interns and a security guard. “Hey kid What are you doing here?” The guard yelled, and Timothy jumped up and dashed toward the staircase. He flung himself over the railing and up the stairs. The security guard stopped, and pulled out a cell phone. He pressed in a few numbers, waited, then yelled into it “That new robot made it to the lobby He’s on the second level ” Moments later five more guards, a few scientists and Adam arrived. Timothy continued running until he reached a large door. He pulled on the doorknob and found it was unlocked. He ran in and closed the door behind him. Inside was several long tables, all filled with computers, and in the back corner a desk with a fancy office chair. All were on screen saver mode, and when Timothy wiggled the mouse connected to one, the screen saver disappeared and he saw a blue background, and nothing else. He clicked to see what would happen, and a small grey box popped up. It said PLEASE ENTER PASSWORD, and beneath it was a space to type in something. “Never mind then.” Timothy muttered and moved to the back of the room and sat down on the chair. The desk was completely empty, save a small picture frame containing a picture of a small child with brown hair. Timothy picked it up and examined the child closely, and discovered it was Adam when he was much younger. Timothy smiled and put the picture down. He went through all the drawers, hoping to find a key or something he could use to escape this place, but they were all empty. “Where do you think he has gone?” Dr. Felora, a robotics specialist, asked Adam. Adam shook his head, and answered “We haven’t studied him enough to learn his behavior patterns. He could be anywhere, but I am predicting he went inside a lab.” Dr. Felora nodded and Adam turned to Dr. Cheldow, the woman scientist from the hospital room and the hallway earlier. “You got to talk shortly to him, do you have any idea where he could be?” Dr. Cheldow shook her head sadly. “All I know is that he’s going to hide somewhere, the poor kid must be terrified.” She said and Adam laughed, “If you keep thinking of him as a human you’re going to grow too attached to him, and you will not be able to help us run our experiments. If you can not do that you will have no use and I will have to fire you.” he ended simply and Dr. Cheldow paled. “You wouldn’t Please sir, I wont become to attached to him... I will do whatever it takes to know how he-it works” She gasped, and Adam nodded and smiled smugly. “I figured you would say that, now lets get to work finding him.” |
